98 Fire provides mutual aid into Bloomsbury for an overturned TT at the Exit 7 westbound exit/entrance ramp on Friday afternoon. The TT was carrying maple syrup.

98 Fire responds to a call of smoke in residence that turned into only a small structure fire thanks to a quick knock down.
A call of a dryer fire came at 4:39 pm. Members of the Stewartsville Vol. Fire company responded along with help from Harmony, Lopatcong, Bloomsbury, Franklin, Washington Boro.
The Stewartsville Vol. Fire Co responded to a call at 12:40 p.m. of transformer fire behind the Home Depot in Phillipsburg. Upon arriving they found a working fire with one of the transformers. The fire quickly spread to a neighboring transformer. The transformers are not attached to the building and the building was not harmed. Home Depot standby generator was operating and supplying the store with electrical power. Firefighters from Stewartsville, Franklin, Alpha, Bloomsbury, Harmony, Lopatcong, Pohatcong and Huntington responded to the call to fight the fire along with the Greenwich Twp. Emergency Squad. The Warren County Haz Mat team was also on scene.

98 Fire responds to a call of a structure fire in a bathroom in the 600 block of South Main Street. The fire was knocked down quickly by the chief and ventilation was provided.

A structure fire was reported in the 300 block of Greenwich at 11:38am. Upon arriving fire fighters from Stewartsville and Franklin Twp found a rear corner of the house with a small exterior fire that was knocked down quickly. Firefighters from Harmony, Bloomsbury and Lopatcong also assisted along with the rescue squad and police.

Stewartsville fire responded to a two car MVA on S Main Street near I-78 on Saturday evening just before 10 pm. One of the cars flipped over the guard rail. Occupants were briefly entrapped. Only minor injuries reported.

98 Fire kicks off Fire Prevention week with its annual open house.
98 Fire respond to a call of a pole fire on SR 173 near Muller Chevy. Upon arriving they find a nearby pole arcing and on fire. JCPL was notified but in storm mode. Eventually the wire broke off and power went out to nearby traffic lights.
Members of the Stewartsville Fire company participate in a couple of 9-11 memorials in the area on the 10th anniversary. The first is the dedication of the new 9-11 memorial at the rescue squad. Additional photos from that event can be found here.

98 Fire respond to a call of a smoke alarm in a kitchen. Arriving on scene they found it was a baking mishap.
98 Fire reponds to multiple calls of flooded basements in the township. This is a result of nearly 8" of rain from the remnants of tropical storm Lee, which is more than we received from Hurricane Irene (6.72")
The Stewartsville Volunteer Fire company along with several other local fire departments responded to a structure fire in a single family home in the township. Fighting the fire was hampered by several oxygen tanks that exploded.

98 Fire provided standy by fire coverage services for the demolition derby at the warren county fair on Tuesday evening. 98 Fire positioned themselves to watch over the pit area in case any vehicles needed the attention of the fire department.
98 Fire along with other emergency services in the township joined together to participate in National Night Out 2011 at the Greenwich Elementary School. The Aqua slide was a big hit along with the dunk tank. 98 Fire provided water for both along with educational information for residents.

98 Fire hosts a fire prevention week "safety day" at nearby Home Depot.
In the first of two calls of the day, 98 Fire provides mutual aid for man-power into Pohatcong Twp for a working kitchen fire.
98 Fire participates in the annual Community Day in Greenwich Township. The Fire Department Auxilary was selling "fire fries" while the fire fighters hosted an open house in one of the engines and handed out fire prevention stickers.

98 Fire responds to a call for a structural fire - back porch. Upon arrival the crew from Stewartsville volunteer fire company along with neighboring Bloomsbury and Huntington found the back deck fully involved. Luckily no one was injured and only the siding were damaged (besides the deck).

98 Fire responded to a MVC, single vehicle accident with one occupant. Vehicle left the road surface on Rte 173 near Greenwich Church Road, rolled multiple times and slid on its roof for a distance before coming to rest on its wheels. Negative entrapment. First EMT on-scene was a member of 98 Fire who immediately requested Medivac to fly. 98 Fire assisted 98 EMS with patient removal and packaging and setup an LZ at Mederex. 98 Fire remained on-scene until the vehicle was removed from the scene.
98 Fire responds to a call of mutual aid for Bloomsbury in Hunterdon County. Oil leached from the nearby truck stop into the Musconetcong River. Both crews worked alongside the Hunterdon HazMat team to arrest and clean up the spill

Fire 98 provides a Fire Prevention assembly to K-3rd grades at the Greenwich Elementry School in Greenwich Township. The assembly started off with a fire alarm drill with the Stewartsville Fire Department responding on site. After the building was checked and the alarm reset, the kids returned to the building. Shortly thereafter several classes came out and received some fire prevention education from the Fire Chief Joe Mecsey and several other members of Fire98. The visit concluded with the kids taking a walk around and through the fire engine. This was repeated 7-8 time throughout the day. These photos are from the first two tours.

Fire 98 responds to a fire alarm on the rooftop of Greenwich Center. Those responding from the Stewartsville Volunteer FIre Department thoroughly searched the complex to ensure it was a false alarm. An alarm technician showed up to assist.

The Warren County Station 98 Stewartsville Fire Department (SFD) and other first responders on the scene of an Interstate 78 motor vehicle accident visible from an adjacent overpass. The truck was also leaking fuel that had to be dealt with. Not visible is the helicopter landing zone the SFD Fire Chief directed other Stewartsvile volunteer Fighfighters to set-up in a nearby Weigh Station parking lot. The SFD secured the accident scene while rescue workers rendered aid to a motorist. A PennStar medevac helicopter was seen to arrive and depart the area.

On their second, back-to-back call of the afternoon, SFD Volunteer Firefighters work to clear a smoke condition in a Greenwich Township residence.
On their third call of the day, Stewartsville Volunteer Firefighters respond to a 911 call to the American Legion Post where a meeting was evacuated without injury due to a smoke condition and possible electrical hazard.

Stewartsville Volunteer Fire Company responded to a request for public assistance to rescue a large blue and gold macaw from a roof top. The bird had been frightened and took flight from the complainants' home, coming to rest on a neighbor's roof. The animal was rescued without incident or injury.

The Stewartsville Vol. Fire Co. serves the community hot dogs at the Greenwich School during the annual Easter Egg Hunt event for the kids.
The Stewartsville Vol. Fire Co. responded on a reported vehicle into a building, completely involved in fire. First arriving units found an occupied vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a mixed use hair salon / dwelling. The vehicle was fully involved and fire was extending to the structure. The first in engine company made an aggressive two pronged attack. One team attacked the burning vehicle, pushing the fire away from the structure, while a 2nd team cleared the dwelling of occupants and searched for interior extension. The tactical efforts of both teams resulted in a quick knock down of the vehicle and structure fires. The incident was brought under control in less than 15 minutes. Crews remained on-scene for an additional 3 hours while an accident investigation was conducted and until the deceased driver and vehicle were removed from the structure.
Stewartsville Vol. Fire Co. responded for police on-scene confirming heavy smoke in basement of a single family home. First arriving units found light smoke and Colliers Mansion conditions on the first floor and in the basement. The cause of the smoke condition was determined to be a furnace backfire.

Stewartsville Vol. Fire Co. responded for an unknown fire in an occupied restaurant in a strip mall. First arriving units found light smoke conditions in the restaurant. The cause of the smoke condition was determined to be a wet-oven fire. Units were on-scene for 45 minutes performing overhaul.
